Nestled between campus, Lake Monona, and the near west side, the Greenbush neighborhood is one of the city’s most culturally historic, convenient, and vibrant places to live in Madison. Whether you’re looking for a studio apartment close to the University of Wisconsin campus or a pretty century-old first home, the Greenbush neighborhood is filled with a charming sense of community and fun. Living here puts you close to all the acton of the campus area, and because homes are tucked along tree-lined, established streets, you can still feel a strong sense of the cozy neighborhood that is often celebrated by Madison residents.

We take our name from the historic Greenbush addition, which served as the first home of many Italian and Eastern European immigrants to Madison at the close of the nineteenth and the early twentieth centuries. The current Greenbush Neighborhood contains the last of the original homes from that old neighborhood, most of which was demolished in the late 1960s in order to build Bayview, Gay Braxton, and Brittingham apartments.

Today the Greenbush Neighborhood offers access to Vilas Beach, Vilas Park Zoo, the UW Arboretum, the UW campus, and a short bus ride or walk to Madison's thriving downtown. We also contain two of Madison's three hospitals within our neighborhood boundaries.
